Any Occasion Scrunchie

Any Occasion Hair Scrunchie

This pattern is very very easy. A perfect first project to crochet and show off your new skills. I am calling it the every occasion hair Scrunchie because if you make it in pink and red it is for Valentine’s Day. If made in green it’s for St. Patrick’s Day. Red and green could be for Christmas. You get the idea I’m sure. Your imagination is your friend as always so I’m sure you will figure out what you would like. The one pictured is my personal Birthday Scrunchie. I will be 46 in a few days yay!Written in American Crochet terms.

Great to dress up your messy bun!

Skills Needed

  1. Chain Stitch (ch) Single Crochet (sc)
  2. Half Double Crochet (hdc)
  3. Single Crochet (sc)
  4. Slip Stitch (ss).

Tools and Materials

  1. Yarn of your choice
  2. Hook to match your yarn
  3. Hair Elastic
  4. Yarn needle
  5. Scissors

Scrunchie Instructions

  1. Tie yarn to your elastic
  2. Use crochet hook to pull up a loop
  3. Chain 1
  4. Make 50 single crochet around your elastic. I used worsted Weight yarn so 50 was enough but if you are using thinner yarn you may need more sc and if you are using chunky yarn you man need fewer. What you want is the elastic to be densely covered so that even when stretching out it will still look nice.
  5. Slip Stitch to the first sc you made
  6. Chain 1
  7. Make 3 hdc in each sc around your elastic.
  8. Slip Stitch to your first sc
  9. Chain 1
  10. Cut yarn and pull it through the chain to lock your stitches
  11. Weave in your ends.
  12. All done!  Congratulations on a super cute hair accessory.

Have a great day from Tracy K 😁
